    Reporting to the Manager of Tourism, Culture and Sport and supervised by the Sport Tourism Coordinator, the 2023 Ontario 55+ Summer Games Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Games, which includes liaising with the Games Co-Chairs, the Games Organizing Committee (GOC), the community, and managing the relationship with the Games Ontario Consultant and the Ontario Senior Games Association (OSGA). The 2023 Ontario 55+ Summer Games ("Games") will be held in Brantford and the County of Brant from August 9- 11, 2023.

    Duties:

    • Work in partnership with the Games Co-Chairs, Games Organizing Committee (GOC), Games Ontario Consultant and Ontario Senior Games Association (OSGA) to ensure the successful delivery of the Games. Act as a Games Ambassador while developing relationships and on-going communications with all committees and community stakeholders.
    •  Adhere to the Ontario Transfer Payment Agreement in cooperation with the Games Ontario Consultant and the Local Agreement with the City of Brantford and the County of Brant.
    • Identify, initiate, facilitate and report on revenue generation for the Games (funding applications, monetary and in-kind sponsorship).
    • Coordinate the procurement, securing and managing of contracts for the Games in accordance with the City of Brantford Execution of Routine Documents Bylaw and Corporate Purchasing Policy.
    • Coordinate with GOC to recruit and train volunteers.
    • Adhere to and coordinate Games Critical Path, ensuring key milestones are met.
    • Support the monitoring and tracking of the Games budget to ensure a break-even or surplus.
    • Coordinate and support monthly GOC meetings and other Games meetings, as required.
    • Work with committee area Chairs to determine locations for accommodations, sport and special event venues.
    • Troubleshoot any issues that arise surrounding the Games.
    • During the Games, lead daily update meetings, submit daily reports and be accessible by phone and email at all times.
    • Manage Legacy committee and any legacy projects determined by the committee.
    • Submission of Final Reports, Ministry Evaluations and final grant reports, as applicable.
    • Possess a valid Class G driver's license in good standing during the course of employment and access to a personal vehicle is required.

    The Games Coordinator will be based at City Hall, and possibility of hybrid work from home. This role will require travel to all locations in both municipalities as support to GOC and Games time volunteers, as required. The successful applicant must have the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends

    Qualifications:

    • Two year community college degree in sport/recreation/event management or related field Experience in event management, sponsorship, marketing and/or public relations
    • 1-2 years related experience in sport and/or event management is preferred
    • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organization, public speaking and leadership skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment with multiple stakeholders
    • Demonstrated project management skills
    • Have a strong background in MS office programs
    • Ability to adhere to deadlines.
