Call for Expressions of Interest: Ontario Tourism Strategy Alignment Council (OTSAC)

TIAO is launching the Ontario Tourism Strategy Alignment Council (OTSAC), a new cross-sector leadership body that will guide the implementation of the new Strategic Playbook for Ontario’s Tourism Industry (2025–2030). OTSAC will bring together senior leaders from across the province to champion shared priorities, strengthen regional and sector alignment, and monitor collective progress toward the Strategy’s goals.

The Council will include representatives from across Ontario’s tourism system, with balanced representation based on region, sector, and organizational function, including:

  • Tourism operators (small, mid-sized, and major demand drivers)
  • Regional Tourism Organizations
  • Destination Marketing and Management Organizations
  • Sector associations (product, culture, workforce, environment, etc.)
  • Suppliers to the tourism industry (e.g., transportation, workforce, technology)
  • Academic experts

The Council will advise on implementation planning, support collaboration across sectors, reduce duplication, and provide guidance to working groups focused on marketing, workforce, sustainability, investment attraction, and more. Members will also play a key role in communicating strategy priorities within their networks and advancing a “One Ontario” approach.

We are seeking volunteers who bring:

  • Senior leadership or strategic planning experience
  • Strong understanding of Ontario’s tourism ecosystem
  • Ability to collaborate across sectors and regions
  • Decision-making authority or influence within their organization, region, or sector
  • Commitment to evidence-informed, future-focused thinking
  • Willingness to champion the Strategy within their networks

The Council will meet digitally three times per year, with a one-year volunteer term.

Expressions of interest should be about 250-500 words, include your role and relevant experience, and your contribution to advancing Ontario’s strategy.  Please send directly to info@tiaontario.ca.

The Alignment Council Terms of Reference and Criteria will guide Council volunteer selection and activities. Review the guide, here.
