Tourism Day at Queen’s Park Briefing Note

Tourism Day at Queen’s Park Briefing Note

On December 8, 2025, TIAO held its annual Tourism Day at Queen’s Park lobby event. It was a comprehensive day of meetings with Ministries and networking. The conversations of the day focused on Ontario’s new Forward Motion Strategic Playbook, which comes at a pivotal time, as the government focuses on driving economic growth, workforce readiness, regional development, and investment attraction.

Tourism directly advances all these priorities. TIAO along with a delegation of our members reinforced the importance of tourism as an economic driver shedding light on issues such as existing gaps in U.S. and overseas visitation, rising costs, and the impact of a shrinking tourism workforce and lagging private-sector investment. We also came to the table with clear, practical recommendations to shift Ontario from recovery to sustained growth by increasing visitation and spending, rebuilding the talent pipeline, and unlocking capital investment in new and enhanced tourism products.

A complete outline of discussion topics and recommendations presented at Tourism Day at Queen’s Park can be found in the official briefing note, here.
